Hiking and Local Vistas

TRAILS

Hiking trails offer a unique way to explore the natural world, guiding travelers through forests, across rolling hills, and along quiet streams. Each trail has its own character—some are smooth and easy, perfect for a relaxed walk, while others challenge hikers with steep climbs and rugged terrain. Along the way, hikers might encounter wildlife, wildflowers, and scenic viewpoints that reward their effort. Beyond the physical benefits, hiking trails also provide a mental escape from daily routines, allowing people to disconnect from distractions and reconnect with nature. Whether short or long, well-traveled or hidden, every trail invites a sense of adventure and discovery.

With miles of trails spanning state parks and state forests, it’s easy to get lost in the Renovo area. Paved roads lead to dirt roads, old logging trails, natural gas wells, and private family camps that span for generations, long before this land was included in state parks and forest boundaries. For those who need to be connected don’t worry – cell service is generally available for most of the area. If you wish to remain unplugged there’s a trail for you.

LOCAL VISTAS

Scenic vistas have a way of quieting the mind and expanding one’s sense of the world, offering sweeping views that stretch far beyond the immediate horizon. Whether it’s a mountain overlook bathed in golden sunrise light, a winding coastline where waves meet rugged cliffs, or a vast valley painted in layers of green and blue, these landscapes invite reflection and awe. The beauty of a scenic vista lies not only in its visual grandeur but also in the feeling it evokes—a blend of calm, wonder, and connection to something larger than oneself. In those moments, time seems to slow, and the simple act of taking in the view becomes a deeply restorative experience.

Boggs Run Trail and Vista

Boggs Run Trail and Vista, Christopher Miller_GoRenovoPAThis trail is between 3 and 4 miles depending on where you park and road conditions on the “Jeep trail.” After walking through dense, lush forests the scenic vista is down a small hill. Warning: you may need to descend the hill on your bottom as the rocks are relatively loose. At the bottom of the hill look to your left and you will see the village of Hyner. Learn More
