Clothes to Pack for Summer in Renovo
Whether backpacking or going for a casual hike, a trip in the mountains is something you should always prepare for. Maybe you’ve watched a bunch of videos of beautiful vistas and want to hike up to them yourself. Maybe you’re just looking for a stroll through the woods. A few questions remain: What will you bring? What do you actually need? How do I prepare for a trip like this? Here are some tips to help you prepare:
- Dress in layers. Summer tends to be hot in the middle of the day, and cooler in the mornings and at nights.
- Bring a lightweight fleece or insulated puffer for cool nights and mornings.
- Base layers can consist of t-shirts or even a lightweight long–sleeve.
- Bring a raincoat or some form of waterproof jacket in case of rain.
- Wear shorts or lightweight pants.
- Bring multiple pairs of socks, as not changing socks in between days of hiking can cause blisters or athlete’s foot.
- Hiking boots are a great option for short and long hikes.
- If hiking in the woods, consider long SPF pants, long sleeve SPF shirts, hiking socks, and hiking boots. Most SPF pants and shirts are lightweight and you won’t sweat in them if they are moisture wicking. Long sleeves also help keep away ticks and unwanted guests.
- Put on a good sunscreen of 30 or more and pack a hat for extra protection.
- As always, bring water, and food with you on the trail. Whether your hike is short or long, staying hydrated and fed is important.
Let a friend or traveling companion know where you are going and for how long if hiking alone. Remember to stay safe and have fun!
